Material & quality

What is mulberry silk and what makes it special?

Mulberry silk is the finest type of silk in the world. It comes from the cocoons of the mulberry silkworm (Bombyx mori), which feeds exclusively on mulberry leaves. The result is a particularly fine, even and tear-resistant fibre with a natural shine. Our products are made of 100% pure mulberry silk.

What do "grade 6A" and "momme" mean?

Grade 6A is the highest quality grade for mulberry silk – it refers to particularly long, even and flawless fibres. Momme (mm) is the unit for the weight and thus the density of silk. We deliberately use 19 or 21 momme depending on the product: dense enough for everyday use and long durability, yet light enough to keep the supple, fluid drape. Learn more in our guide What does momme mean in silk?

What is your silk made of?

All our textiles are made of 100% pure mulberry silk – with no blends. With over 15 years of silk expertise, we carefully select our materials for fibre quality, shine and density. Our silk is sustainably produced.

Beauty & sleep

What are the benefits of silk for skin and hair?

Silk has a particularly smooth surface and therefore creates much less friction than cotton. This can reduce frizz, breakage and split ends and help prevent sleep creases. Silk also absorbs less moisture than cotton – your skin and skincare dry out less overnight, so you wake up looking fresher.

Is silk for summer or winter?

Both – silk is naturally temperature-regulating. In summer it feels cooling and wicks away moisture, so you sleep more comfortably even on hot nights. In winter, the same fibre retains body heat. This makes silk a true all-year material – and a noticeable relief on warm nights. Read more on our page Sleeping cool with mulberry silk.

Does silk really help against sleep creases and frizz?

The effect is based on physics, not promises: the smooth silk surface lets skin and hair glide gently at night instead of being "gripped" as they are by a rougher cotton pillowcase. Less friction means fewer pressed-in creases in the morning and less roughened, static hair. A silk pillowcase is therefore one of the easiest steps in a night-time beauty routine.

Allergies & sensitive skin

Is mulberry silk suitable for allergy sufferers?

Mulberry silk is considered naturally hypoallergenic. Its dense fibre structure offers house dust mites hardly any habitat, and the material has natural properties that can inhibit the growth of bacteria. This makes silk a pleasant choice for sensitive skin and allergy sufferers. If you have an existing skin condition, we recommend seeking medical advice if in doubt.

Care

How do I care for and wash my silk properly?

Silk is easier to care for than many people think. Wash it gently at a low temperature (hand or delicates wash) with a mild, pH-neutral detergent. Avoid fabric softener and bleach, and let your silk air-dry instead of using a tumble dryer. This keeps its natural shine for a long time. You'll find detailed instructions on our Care instructions page.

Which pillowcase sizes are available?

Our silk pillowcases come in five sizes: 40 × 80 cm (German standard size), 80 × 80 cm (large square pillow), 50 × 70 cm (European standard size), 40 × 60 cm and 40 × 40 cm as a decorative option.
